As an Innovation Project Manager (IPM) you will join a Clinical Innovation team in NIBR Translational Medicine (TM), and be accountable for the content and implementation our innovation strategic plan within Clinical Sciences & Innovation (CS&I) and TM.
You will independently be in charge for the direction of multiple overarching innovative and/or novel trial technology programs from design to delivery. Including their interfaces and co-development with other divisions at the enterprise level to achieve breakthrough solutions with impacts across Novartis.
The IPM works closely with partner functions and clinical trial teams to drive innovative and novel patient centric and trial technology projects, from design to delivery and implementation as standard practice. Innovative programs encompass novel patient centric approaches, clinical trial operations and management. You will ensure implementation and successful deployment, and serve as a champion and inspiring leader for ongoing projects.
Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Contribute to short, medium and long-term strategies for innovation in Translational Medicine, and be responsible for execution of overarching elements of the strategic innovation plan
  • Lead and enable the implementation of modernized and innovative approaches to global clinical trial design/management and group operations within CS&I and TM
  • Responsible for the evaluation of new “innovative / data driven digital” vendors and tool providers for analysis and recommendations of use, in line with support of partner line functions.
  • Track and review progress of implementation of next generation operations and analytics tools in CS&I and TM and ensure they embed and support strategic imperatives as required.
  • Collaborate with other Novartis units and divisions on assigned projects to facilitate companywide implementation of future clinical trial delivery.
  • Design and lead creation and deployment of data based innovations to business model that result in step-change in trial management processes and practices with significant enhancements to efficiency and productivity
  • Evaluate external innovation landscape for Translational Medicine; Explore and evaluate innovative solutions to improve and modernize clinical trial methodology, management and internal operations.
  • Champion innovative and digital improvement projects across Novartis Innovation portfolio and identify process and technology improvements for continuous improvement and drive implementation in Translational Medicine in collaboration with partners. Minimum requirements

What you will bring to the role:
  • PharmD; BSc or Master level degree in life sciences
  • Proficiency in English
  • Several years of relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry / clinical drug development, including working directly on clinical trial improvement/operations projects.
  • Passionate and deeply knowledgeable about innovation frameworks, constructs, and innovation strategies.
  • Operational project management experience including excellent planning, prioritization, problem solving and organizational skills. Track record of successfully managing several complex projects concurrently.
  • Expertise in constructing business/value cases along various verticals and through different “lenses” (e.g., quality/time/cost, people/process/technology, startup/conduct/closeout, etc.).
  • Strong and demonstrated success with customer orientation awareness and focus, particularly passionate about development of new tools and methodologies.
